God is Awesome!

You know those times that something good happens in your life and all is well, then later in life as you reflect back on that time you realize that Heavenly Father is totally awesome and was working in your life? I was on the phone with a friend and she mentioned that a humming bird was right by her window...then I told her how humming birds mean so much to James and I. I've only shared this story with a few people...(remember I'm a detail person...) many years ago we were house sitting for my parents, they recently joined the LDS church and we wanted nothing to do with it. We supported them and went to their baptisms', but weren't interested in going ourselves. Back then we were small bird breeders and had hand raised a few. One really cold evening when we were there the Sister Missionaries came by to visit with my parents. As I was telling them they were out of town, I noticed the one cupping her hands together close to her chest. I asked her what she was holding and she opened her hands to reveal a very new baby Humming Bird with small feathers starting to grow. She was pretty distressed about not finding the nest to put it back up in. James and I tried to find it too, but it's just about impossible because the nests are just about the size of a quarter and maybe an inch or so high. We told her we would take it home and try to take care of it. (we knew there wasn't much hope with wild baby birds, but we still had some hope) Anyways, time went on and she grew as I fed her through a syringe, teaching her to fly by having her stand on my finger and rolling it so she would feel like she was falling and flap her tiny wings, taping the syringe to the top of the tiny cage so she had to work for her food, cutting a hole in some fake flowers to slip it through...yadda-yadda-yadda. Finally the dat came that when she flew around our house, we knew it was time to let her go. We all went out front and she stayed on my finger for a few, then off she went. It was a very happy day, as a mater of fact, it was a happy time for us. Later we became friends with an exotic bird breeder and store owner and told her of our little Humming bird. She was very adament that this couldn't have happened because there is no way to raise a Humming bird. We showed her the pictures we had and she said it was a once in a many life times fluke.
Sooooo, here's the realizing Heavenly Father is awesome part...A couple years prior we had a little baby girl Carissa, unfortunantly she had a severve birth defect and only lived a couple hours. How precious those couple hours were! I was going thru a bit of a depression at that time and this sweet little Humming bird brought life back into my heart and home for me. Here we are, not going to any church, and Heavenly Father brings us such a symbolic experience the He brings forth life and can heal your heart too. He IS an awesome GOD!

Beautiful Poem/Song

This is the peom/song my friend Chalice shared with me. If you are familiar with the Primary song "I am a Child of God" it's sung or read to that tune. I've heard it before, but didn't get a chance to copy it so I' so happy that she shared it with me.
I am a child of God
I am a child of God
and He has called me home.
My earthly journey's through but still, I do not walk alone.
He leads me, guides me, walks beside me, helps me find the way.
He welcomed me with open arms.
I live with Him today.
I am a child of God and I have gone ahead.
My earthly life was brief but oh, such peace and love you gave.
You loved me, held me, stood beside me and though I cannot stay.
You gave me much to help me and I live with Him today.
I am a child of God and I will wait for you.
Celestial glory shall be ours, if you can but endure.
I'll lead you, guide you, walk beside you.
Help you find the way.
I'll welcome you with open arms
One bright Celestial day.

Thank you Chalice for sharing this with me!

Blagh, Blagh, Blagh

I know I should be positive and happy...but I'm not today or yesterday or the day before that. I loved seeing Yvonne, getting my hugs and seeing her smile. As a mom it was so hard to leave the other children, who never had been without us for even a couple nights, but I wanted with all my heart to go and see her. Of course they survived and it was good for them. They were with a good friend who gave them hugs and love when they needed it. Then those feelings came back when it was time to leave. Do we stay longer with her or go home to the others. We almost had to stay, the airlines almost cancled the flight due to only one restroom working on the plane.
I bet this is what all Mom's go through when their first born leaves home.
How do you get used to having your heart in two seperate places?
I know this will get easier, but man is sucks in the mean time.

I'm a detail person, I love details. I love details in stories (my hubby hates that!lol) the finishing touches in different things, anyways....I also love details in my kids lives. Point in fact...I was asking Yvonne to describe what it looked there and reminded her that lots of pictures help bring back lots of fun memories when she is no longer living in Paradise. She let me know that I can't be with her everywhere she goes.... duh...I know that, but I gotta get my heart to understand that. And it would be nice if I could get my "shut up" filter to work... I mentioned for her to make sure she has someone with her at night when she's walking around .... as ANY mom would, and she, patiently reminds me that she's an MP now and has been highly trained to take care of herself. She's shot M16's, Bazooka's and numerous other ones I can't spell or remember, she's repelled off a 40 foot wall, jumped out of an airplane, covered herself from the blasts of grenades, went on 10k marches with 50lb ruk-sack, learned how to disarm a man, jumped out of an airplane, take down a man 2x her size, learned to tail someone, learned to loose a tail, jumped out of an airplane, drive a Humv, use those big guns on the big trucks and tons more and did I mention she jumped out of an airplane?!?!
I know, I know, I know....you can take care of yourself sweetie

Finally Home

Well, we made it back from seeing Yvonne graduate and she was AWESOME!She looked so dang beautiful in her class A's. I will post several pictures soon. Just getting back into the swing of things. It was pretty up there in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. But I can tell it's much prettier soon. Lots and Lots of trees everywhere, so it has to be pretty durring all the other seasons (you know, the seasons we don't have here!) Lol.
Yvonne sent me a picture of her new home. She safely landed in Hawaii and she says it's paradise. I'm sure it is. Lucky duck! I'm so happy of the fun times she's gonna have.
